1067 along with 1068 were the second repeat order for these type of cranes, 1066 had arrived the previous year and 1069 would follow in 1925.

Unlike the earlier crane locomotives which lifted my means of a winch, these locomotives are luffing cranes which lift by raising the long (21' 9'') jib by means of a steam cylinder. The jib can also be rotated under power. Interesting features of this class are the hole through the jib to permit the smoke to escape when the jib is in the full forward position, and the sloping top to the steam chests. Some of these cranes were fitted with turbo generators for use with electromagnets for lifting scrap.

1067 received an overhaul in April 1970 and was equipped with an Electromagnet. This was to enable it to take up duties at Clyde Wagon Works as the permanent replacement for 1069 which had been written off in an accident.

At the end of it's railway service 1067 was dismantled for overhaul but the overhaul was never carried out and the engine was written off. It was purchased by DSR&M in this dismantled state and is stored at Dorrigo awaiting reassembly.
