Research and Publications
Paul Redding works predominantly on German idealism,
and hermeneutic directions in philosophy in the continental and analytic
traditions.
His publications
include two books: Hegel's Hermeneutics (Cornell University Press,
1996) and The Logic of Affect (Cornell University Press & Melbourne
University Press, 1999). He is currently working on the role of "transcendental
logic" in both Kant and Hegel, and the compatibility of non-metaphysical
interpretations of Kant and Hegel with American pragmatism, in particular,
the logical work of C. S. Peirce and the recent post-Sellarsian approaches
of the "Pittsburgh Hegelians", Robert Brandom and John McDowell.
